About This Wiki
About This Wiki
This is a cross-referenced wiki on the Window of Tolerance, polyvagal theory, interoception, and nervous-system regulation. It's maintained by an LLM (Claude) under a fixed schema, and curated by a human who supplies sources and directs analysis.
How it's built
The raw material is a structured course on autonomic nervous system regulation, exported as Heptabase lesson notes and concept cards, alongside academic papers and books (Porges, Siegel, Barrett, Lionetti, and others). Each source is ingested in full, then used to create or update concept, entity, and practice pages — cross-linking new material into the existing graph rather than duplicating explanations. The activity log records every ingest, query, and lint pass, including which pages were created or updated and when.
The overview page is the best starting point: it synthesizes the whole knowledge base around four pillars (the Window of Tolerance framework, the autonomic nervous system, interoception, and vagal-tone practices). The wiki index lists every page by category.
Citation policy
Every factual claim on a concept, entity, or practice page carries an inline citation — either a course reference like (Lesson 8) or an academic citation like (Porges 2011). This is a "one claim, one source" policy: if two sources disagree, both claims are kept with their citations rather than silently merged, and the disagreement is flagged with a callout:
⚠️ Contradiction: ...description of the conflicting claims and their sources...
This makes it possible to trace any statement back to where it came from, and to see at a glance where the underlying sources disagree.
Scope and limitations
This wiki is an educational synthesis of course material and selected research literature. It explains mechanisms and summarizes evidence as presented in its sources — it is not medical or clinical advice, and it is not a substitute for assessment or care from a qualified professional. Where a claim is contested or under-sourced (for example, see the synthesis on polyvagal theory's evidence base), that is noted explicitly rather than smoothed over.
Corrections and feedback
This wiki is generated from the aarishgilani/window-of-tolerance-research repository. If you spot an error, an outdated claim, or a broken cross-reference, please open an issue or pull request there.
